Black History Month Talent Showcase
Rules and Regulations

Thank you for your interest in performing in our first Virtual Black History Month Talent Showcase. Please read the very important information below. Thank you for your cooperation and support! We are looking forward to a great show!

Important Information

You must submit an audition video to be considered. All videos must be submitted by February 16th, 2021 by 5 PM. Any videos submitted after will not be considered.

Video Requirements
  1. The audition video should not be any longer than 2 minutes. Email all videos to movingmountainstutoring@gmail.com. Note: You do not have to include your full act or the material you will use for the show. Just show off your talent!
  2. Email Format:
    • Subject: Audition Video for BHM Talent Showcase
    • Body of Email: Include your name, talent, what you would like to perform and why we should select you.
Other
  1. Auditions are open to all ages and you don’t have to be of the diaspora to participate, however, the content must be focused on Black history-yesteryear, today, or tomorrow.
  2. The show will be approximately 2 hours long. There will be approximately 10-15 acts.
  3. There will be one rehearsal held on February 23rd, 2021 at 6 PM.
  4. We want participants who audition for this show to exhibit their talent. Talents might include (but are not limited to) singing, dancing, instrumental music, skits, magic, rapping and poetry. Group acts are welcomed.
  5. No act will be considered if it does not meet the judges’ standards of appropriateness in terms of depth and subject matter. Acts having ANY DOUBTS about the appropriateness of their material would be well advised to email concerns BEFORE AUDITIONING.
  6. Acts are responsible for their own music, props and costumes. All music must be available on YouTube and/or apple music so it can be included on a playlist created for the show. Although complete costumes and props are not necessary for auditions, the more complete and polished an act is in the audition video, the greater chance you will have of getting into the show.
  7. Master of Ceremonies (MC): If interested in this role, you must submit an audition video as well. If selected, MCs must be able to attend rehearsal.
  8. Failure to attend your scheduled audition,– except in the case of illness or extreme emergency — will result in you being excluded from the show.
  9.  All acts are responsible for rehearsing and polishing on their own as well as during the days we do not meet. During the rehearsal, participants will practice doing their act as if it were a performance for a real audience. If the act has been changed from its original audition without prior permission, or, if it is not adequately prepared, it will be dropped from the show.
  10. All selected participants will be notified before February 21st, 2021 via email. You may still attend the event if not selected.

Family and friends must R.S.V.P here to reserve a spot in the audience.
